Opposition social mobilizer chased out

One of the opposition All People’s Congress APC, social mobilizers’s life is reported to have been targeted by irate youths of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party SLPP thugs just after the November 26th attempted failed coup.

Selma Lomax who had visited the United States in August of 2023, before on holiday was reported to have later returned to Freetown to resume work peacefully at his Freetown Terminal work place, not knowing that the said youth have nursed grudge against him for his alleged involvement in galvanizing youths of his community to stage the August 10th peaceful protest.

An eyewitness who begged not to be named for fear of his life reccountted that after the November 26th attempted failed coup, some ruling SLPP thugs alleged that the opposition All People’s Congress APC political activists including Lomax had a hand in organizing the previous August 10 protest.

The eyewitness revealed that, immediately after the attempted failed coup, some of the SLPP disgruntled thugs swiftly rushed to Selma Lomax’s home at 15A Andrew Street in Freetown to physically attack and torture him, as according to them, him being an APC social mobilizer activist that has openly condemned the killing of armless prisoners at Pademba road maximum prison, the Makeni killing, he must have had a hand in galvanizing those protesters to stage the protest.

The eyewitness furthered that, while the SLPP thugs were allegedly heading to Selma Lomax’s
home, neighbours tipped him off that he should not go back to his house, informing him that a group of SLPP thugs were heading to his house to attack him.

The eyewitness said immediately Selma Lomax heard the terrible news he wasted no time but to flee to an unknown destination.

The eyewitness maintained that when the irate youths stormed the premises of Lomax, they searched the entire house and upon realizing that he was nowhere to be found, they ransacked the home and carted away property worth million of leones, vowing to burn down their house should he failed to surrender himself shortly.

As at time of going to press last night, family sources says, since Selma Lomax’s parents also heard the life threatening news, they also reportedly fled the country.

The whereabouts of Lomax and his parents is still unknown.

The Sierra Leone police’s spokesman, Assistant Commissioner Brima Karama, said they are investigating the matter, but since then a single individual hasn’t been arrested.
