Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Kenyeh Barlay, on 7th February, 2024, attended the Action Aid Sierra Leone’s Fourth Country Strategy launch and appreciated the contributions of NGOs.
She expressed support and appreciation for Action Aid Sierra Leone’s Fourth Country Strategy, emphasizing its alignment with the government’s goals for sustainable development.
The event was Chaired by the Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, on the strategy, “The Transformative Action for Inclusive and Resilient Communities (2024-2028),” and reflects a commitment to fostering inclusive and resilient communities.
“Action Aid Sierra Leone has consistently been at the forefront of community-driven development and this strategic plan further underscores their commitment to fostering inclusive and resilient communities. This aligns seamlessly with our government’s overarching goals and vision for sustainable economic development”
The Minister acknowledged the crucial role of NGOs, including Action Aid, in supporting government agendas and programs, especially in reaching underserved communities. She outlined areas within the Big Five agendas and Enablers where NGOs can contribute, including food security, human capital development, youth employment, infrastructure, technology, innovation, governance, and climate resilience.
“My Ministry recognizes the significant role played by NGOs as critical partners in achieving the development goals of the MTNDP, working hand in hand with the government to create positive impact and sustainable change, more so reaching the last mile with their development programs despite the challenges in various sectors/clusters are laudable and worth appreciating”. She acknowledged.
