APC flagbearer aspirant, Sorie Sulaiman Sesay, joined the Muslim congregation at Camp Junction in Waterloo, Western Area Rural District, on Friday 6 June 2025, to observe the Eid al-Adha prayers.

Following the prayers, Sesay held an engagement session with members of the community, expressing gratitude for the warm reception. “I’m overwhelmed to be in your midst today. Thank you for extending such a heartfelt invitation — this is the true spirit of APC,” he said.

As a native of Port Loko, with over 20 years of national development experience, Sesay emphasized his commitment to the people, outlining key priorities for the area if elected flagbearer. These include improved access to electricity, better roads, and targeted interventions to reduce maternal mortality in the community.

Highlighting the economic potential of the Western Area, he described it as an ideal location to become a commercial hub and transit point. He further stressed the importance of investing in the region’s fishing industry and coastal resources to establish a thriving blue economy.

Sesay pledged to work closely with the youths and local leaders, ensuring their empowerment and inclusion in development initiatives. In celebration of Eid, he offered a sacrificial cow (Laya) and donated funds to support food distribution in the community.

Later that day, he observed the Jumah prayers at the Port Loko Central Mosque.

In the afternoon, Sesay attended the Port Loko One Voice Inter-Area Athletics Sports Meet, held at the Port Loko Mini Stadium. The event, organized in collaboration with the Port Loko City Sports and Health Promoters, featured a spirited competition between teams from Sendugu Central and Old Port Loko.

In his address at the event, Sesay expressed joy at being able to celebrate Eid and support youth-centered activities. “This is what unity looks like — playing together, celebrating together, and promoting talent,” he said.

He announced a donation of 30 million Leones to cover the full cost of the event, including free entry for all attendees. He also assured participants that he would support all surrounding expenses related to the entertainment, including performances by artists and cultural dancers.

The day ended with the distribution of cash prizes to all participating sports teams, including the winners and runners-up of the football match and athletics races. The event was widely praised as a vibrant showcase of community spirit, youth empowerment, and cultural celebration.
