Friday 11th April 2025, the people and authorities of Kambia district officially received and witnessed the launch of the construction of a pavilion at the central football field (Mini Stadium) of Kambia district by the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), with funds from the Government of Sierra Leone.
Accepting the gesture from the government, the Chairperson, Kambia District Council (KDC), Mohamed Abdul Mansaruco Mansaray, on behalf of the people of Kambia, thanked the government for considering the district in its development trajectory. As he puts it, “the people of Kambia welcome every development, devoid of party colors”. According to Mr. Mansaray, Kambia is far behind in terms of development, unlike other districts in the country, adding that development is the watchword for every true meaningful Kambian and can be accepted from all quarters.
Paramount Chief Bai Fatma Bubu N’gbak IV is the host Paramount Chief, who doubles as Paramount Chief Member of Parliament representing Kambia district. In his statement, the PCMP, with open hands, welcomed the development package, and assured the government and NaCSA of his unflinching support in ensuring the logical conclusion of the project.
Paramount Chief Bai Farma committed to providing safety for the contractor and his team, and called on the workforce to swiftly report any abnormalities during the work for his timely intervention. Closing, the PCMP warned the community to refrain from buying any materials stolen from the site, stressing that anyone caught in any practice that will derail the progress of the project will face the full force of the law.
Delivering the keynote, the Commissioner, National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, delivered a heartfelt felicitation from his master and President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio and the Minister of Finance, Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura, whom he said were unavoidably absent following other pressing national calls.
Ambassador Ndomahina disclosed that NaCSA is receiving support from various quarters, including the World Bank, KFW, Islamic Development Bank, among others, but the sport pavilion project for the youth population of Kambia is 100% financed by the Government of Sierra Leone. According to the Commissioner, the pavilion project in the Kambia Mini Stadium will be funded by the government from start to finish.
Delivering a security statement, the Local Unit Commander, Chief Superintendent Bob Mansaray, underscored the role of the police in maintaining peace and order vis-à-vis community policing. CSP Mansaray said the police are part of the community and called on the community to take ownership of their development and ensure they promptly report any criminal-related issue to the police.
The commissioning of the Kambia Mini Stadium Pavillion project was climaxed by an official and traditional turning of the sod by the host Paramount Chief, Bai Farma Tass Bubu N’gbak, the Commissioner of NaCSA, Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, the Sierra Leone Ambassador to Guinea designate, Ambassador Foday Yumkella, and the Kambia District Council Chairperson, Mohamed Abdul Mansarico Mansaray.
