Alimamy Sankoh, popularly known as Skatel., is a youth activist in his 30s, a medical practitioner with a huge interest in medicine, a footballer and a philanthropist, whose popularity is unwavering.
Alimamy Sankoh is a native of Kambia district, Magbema chiefdom, specifically. He is an alumnus of Kolenten Secondary School and a legally married man with two children. Skatel’s passion for serving humanity, particularly children, is what made him one of the most popular youths among his peers, many say.
Skatel started his practice in the medical field as a volunteer at Kambia district central hospital, and rendered health services to the people of Kambia for over 5 years, unpaid. Alimamy Sankoh was eyed by his political party youths to serve as their official and reliable representative in the next district party executive of the All People’s Congress (APC). Mr. Sankoh received a request made by the youths of his political party with open hands, and committed to serve his constituents in his political party adequately.
As he puts it: “If I am voted the next leader of the youths of APC in Kambia district, I will use my office to provide all-inclusive and quality leadership to my fellow youths. Also, I shall invest my time, energy and everything to showcase the relevance of young people.” Skatel opined.
According to a commercial bike rider, Ibrahim Sorie Bangura, the identification of Skatel by the youths of the APC in the district to represent them in the next APC district executive, is a testament of his sacrifice and service to the community, regardless of age, sex and political affiliation. The name, Skatel, is a household name in the northern district of Kambia.
Alimamy Sankoh is one among others that prioritized education and sees food as a key component to keeping school pupils in school, and at the same time, serving as motivation for good class performance.
In that regard, on a regular basis, out of his mega resources, Alimamy provides food for pupils in schools. He is a grassroot politician, one of the qualities for which he is loved by many people in and out of the APC. His nickname, Skatel, is a household name in the district. His popularity is born out of his philanthropic service to people, regardless of age and political affiliation.
The youths of Kambia district, cut across all political parties, are yearning for quality political representation. The identification of Alimamy Sankoh (Skatel) by young people in the opposition (APC) to contest in the upcoming intra-party democratic process, is apparently a fulfillment of their dream to get quality youth representation in the new district party executive.
