Edward Marah Leads In Secretary General Race

As the campaign for various positions in the upcoming election for the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) intensifies, the leading candidate for the position of National Secretary General, Mr. Edward Marah, is now the favorite and the face of the election, as both candidates for the position of President: Mr Mustapha Sesay and Mr. Manika, crave the support and popularity of Edward Marah to win.

Edward Marah, the most loved candidate, with a huge support base across the Sierra Leone media landscape, stands out as the most qualified and competent to manage the affairs of the SLAJ Secretariat.

Edward Marah, who has wide institutional knowledge of SLAJ, has a strong pedigree of unblemished service and dedication to SLAJ, spanning over two decades.

In his declaration statement issued recently, Edward Marah said his coming into service, is a call to reinforce his longstanding dedication to SLAJ, an association of equals and an assembly of citizens who have collectively dedicated their services to ensuring the information, entertainment, and education of our compatriots across the nation, on what they should know and enjoy in real-time.

“Indeed, our presence and our voices and writings are felt all over the country and even beyond in ensuring those objectives. I am no stranger in the service to SLAJ; having done so in several capacities, including as National Publicity Secretary. I am aware of the workload involved as Secretary General, I am conscious of the need to be focused and dedicated, and I am aware of the centrality of the office in ensuring an impactful SLAJ,” he noted.

He pledged to give his all, his time, his service, and his knowledge to deliver on his promises to SLAJ, while assuring his cherished colleagues that, if elected as Secretary General, he would work steadfastly with the President and the rest of the Executive both at national and regional levels to better the standing of our beloved association, both in defense of press freedom and expression and in advocacy on issues of national interest, stressing that he envisages bringing to the SLAJ Secretariat P-R-I-D-E: Productivity; Respectability; Integrity; Dedication and Excellence.

Edward Marah has been a practicing Journalist for twenty-five years, with an unblemished and unquestionable character.
