Ola Tommy Wilson Escapes From Police Custody
According to Police sources, one Ola Tommy Wilson, residing in Wellington, the eastern suburb of Freetown, has been declared wanted for engaging in homosexual activities.
Ola Tommy Wilson, according to the police was arrested during a police raid at a party being held in Wellington by known gay youths, practicing homosexuality. Acting on intelligence about a closed-door gay party being held on 19 February 2022 at Philip Street, Wellington, the police stormed the said venue, arresting several of the gay youths, with others escaping by jumping over a barbed wire fence. Ola Tommy Wilson was among those who tried to escape via that route, but unfortunately for him, he was caught in the wire and had several injuries, including on the head, as a result of where he landed after scaling the fence.
The police explained to this medium that Ola Tommy Wilson was bleeding profusely during his arrest and was taken to a nearby health clinic at Rokupa Hospital, Wellington for immediate medical attention. They furthered that during medical treatment, he managed to escape and has since not been seen.
This medium visited the community clinic, where the medical workers on the night shift on the day that he escaped, explained that Ola Tommy Wilson was brought in bleeding profusely all over the body, with a deep cut around the eye. First aid was applied to stabilize the bleeding and stitches was carried on the deep cuts on his body.
They disclosed that as things had stabilized, Ola Tommy Wilson requested direction to the toilet to ease himself and was shown the way to the toilet, which was located at the far end of the building. It was further disclosed that after a long period of waiting to complete dressing to his wounds, they felt that he had collapsed in the toilet and went to look for him. It was then that they discovered that he had climbed through the roof and escaped, destroying the hardboard on the sealing. The nurses said that they had no idea that he was under arrest, and thought that he was brought in by the police as a result of an accident, which has been the common cases of police presence in their facility. It was further disclosed that on that same night several victims of road accidents were treated, with some being referred to the main referral hospital in Freetown.
The police say that they are trying to get information from the other gay youths arrested about the family members and residence of Ola Tommy Wilson, as well as his known hideouts and regular places he visits, but confirmed that currently he is at large and has been declared wanted.
Homosexuality in Sierra Leone is illegal and punishable by long jail term. It is seen as demonic by both religious faiths in the country. In traditional society, suspects are often beaten to death or eliminated on the pretext of exorcising demons from them by traditional priests in forested areas away from communities. Most often, these events are not reported.
As we go to press the whereabouts of Ola Tommy Wilson are still unknown and the search for him has intensified in the community by both the community youths and the police.
