APC’s Problem is within

Abdul Bero Kamara (Chief)

The purpose of this piece is to highlight the disunity within the APC party and emphasize the need for unity for the party to effectively take over the helm of governance.

All this while, I believed that President Bio was responsible for all the internal fighting within the APC party. After a critical analysis of some events, cases and statements from some comrades within the party, I have realized that President Bio is not the problem for the APC, but rather the party’s main problem lies within its members.

Why are we debating or focusing on future leadership ambitions, when there is still unfinished business to complete – Dr Samura 2023 Train?”

The current debate on ‘Agenda 28’ is seen as a demonstration of the deep divisions within the party, which undermines the smooth landing of the Samura train.

Why can’t we rally behind the ‘Samura train’ until the issue of the stolen election is resolved – Couldn’t that be a sign of unity within the party?

Sadly, it is apparent that some individuals within the party are more focused on personal ambitions rather than uniting against a common enemy. The constant internal power struggles and combat-readiness within the APC party are reminiscent of a statement made by the late Ambassador Dauda Kamara during an encounter with him shortly after the party lost the 2018 elections. He said “APC comrades do not know when not to fight”.

This continued fighting against each other further divides the party and weakens its chances of success. It is imperative to set aside personal ambitions and focus on serving the people and advancing the party’s principles and values.

The disunity within the APC party not only hinders its ability to take over the helm of governance, but also undermines its credibility in the eyes of the public.

The APC party supporters want to see a strong and united party that can effectively lead and address the challenges facing both the party and the country. To regain the trust and support of the people, the APC must address the internal divisions and work towards a cohesive and inclusive party structure.

To achieve this, the APC leadership, the veteran wing and other moral guarantors should prioritize open and honest dialogue among its members, encouraging constructive criticism and fostering a culture of cooperation.

The party leadership also needs to address any grievance or concerns that may be fueling the disunity within the party. By actively listening to the concerns of its members and taking appropriate actions, the APC can work towards resolving internal conflicts and rebuilding trust among comrades.

Ultimately, the success of the APC party depends on its ability to overcome internal divisions and present a united front. Only then can it effectively take over the helm of governance and work towards fulfilling its promises to the people.

May I conclude by urging APCians to prioritize unity, putting aside personal ambitions and working towards a common goal of serving the party and being each other’s brother’s-keeper?

Finally, may I end with a reminder that today it may be Dr Samura’s turn, but tomorrow it could be someone else’s. But let me hasten to remind comrades all that KARMA is real; if individuals within the party gang up against Samura, they should expect the same treatment in the future.

Let me respectfully end by emphasizing that while it is everyone’s right to aspire for any position within the party, the party still has unfinished business to complete, and until then, all APC members should rally behind Dr Samura.

Until then, stay tuned.
