Air Sierra Leone Commences Direct Flight Between Freetown & London

On June 16, 2025, Air Sierra Leone officially commenced full commercial operations on its much-anticipated Freetown–London route, marking a major milestone for the country’s aviation and tourism sectors. This new direct service is poised to significantly enhance Sierra Leone’s connectivity with Europe, fostering increased tourism, trade, and diaspora engagement.

The inaugural flight took off from Gatwick International Airport at 11:00 p.m. (local time), Monday, June 16, and touched down at Freetown International Airport by 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, offering a swift overnight journey. The return leg departed Freetown the same day at 10:45 a.m., with an estimated arrival at Gatwick by 5:45 p.m., providing a convenient daytime option for travelers.

The route will be operated by a state-of-the-art Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft, known for its fuel efficiency and passenger comfort.
