Air Sierra Leone has announced an expansion of its international service to the United Kingdom, adding a second weekly flight between Freetown and London Gatwick.
The updated schedule will take effect the week of August 11, 2025.
The national carrier will now operate flights from London on Monday and Friday evenings, with return departures from Freetown on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. The increased frequency is aimed at providing greater flexibility and convenience for travelers between the two cities.
“We’ve designed this schedule to give passengers more flexibility and convenience when flying between these two important cities,” said Group Chief Operating Officer Sukh Mann. “With this direct link, passengers no longer need to transit through third-party countries or face long layovers. The total travel time is now just six hours.”
The route is served by a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft operated in partnership with Ascend Airways. Passengers can expect Air Sierra Leone’s signature inflight service, which features Sierra Leonean cuisine alongside international meal options.
Mann also hinted at further expansion: “We’re already looking ahead to a third weekly service in the winter season and planning new regional connections to link key West African cities with Freetown, providing onward access to London.”
Air Sierra Leone General Manager Edgard Lacle confirmed that bookings for the additional flights are now open.
“We’re excited to welcome more travellers onboard and continue building our international network,” he said.
