Police Declares Ibrahim Mambo Kamara Wanted

According to police sources, one Ibrahim mambo kamara  of 1 Kelly’s drive,  Rotifunk, lungi, has been declared wanted for allegedly aiding and abetting coupists involved in the 26 November 2023 attempted coup against the government of President Bio.

Speaking at a press briefing on the situation after the attempted coup, the police say that some ex-military and police officers, including some serving officers, with the aid of some civilians, attempted to topple the government by force of arms, and in the process, broke into the central prison and freed all the inmates, totaling over 2,000. However, they were unable to realize their objective due to the gallant resistance put up by the state security forces. Some of the coupists have been killed, while others are at large, allegedly habored by conspirators of the said coup.

Meanwhile, members of the main opposition party APC, say that their members are being harassed by ruling party operatives and security forces on allegations of complicity in the failed coup, with its former Chairman, Ex-President Koroma, being accused of having a hand in the said coup, as some of his security details when he was in power, are alleged to have been among those involved in the coup, with some of them killed and others arrested.

Unfortunately, among those that have found themselves in this quagmire is Ibrahim Mambo Kamara, who has been accused of harboring some of the coupists. Some residents living near his home say that Ibrahim is a known active supporter of the main opposition party, and has been targeted on many occasions when unrest and protests have taken place, as the government had blamed all such incidents on the main opposition party, its arch rival.

It was further revealed that in the aftermath of the failed coup, several opposition party members and supporters, including Ibrahim Mambo Kamara, have been targeted, many arrested on trumped up charges of subversion, conspiracy etc, but there has been no concrete evidence to support those claims. It has also been rumoured that some of these people have simply disappeared and no information about their whereabouts have been made known.

As for Ibrahim Mambo Kamara’s case, his home was raided by ruling party youths and armed security forces, who cordoned the entire area, allegedly looking for fugitive coupists and their accomplices. Ibrahim Mambo Kamara is said to have escaped through a densely populated neighborhood, dressed as a female and has since not returned nor seen. His house has been constantly raided and family members are said to have gone into hiding for fear of being arrested and accused of obstructing the course of Justice.

Residents in the Rotifunk community where Ibrahim lives explained that he has been a regular target of ruling party operatives, due to his popularity and his position as youth leader of the main opposition party APC in the district. His unflinching support and commitment to his party has seen him winning hearts of youths in and around the district, much to the annoyance of the ruling party operatives and the police, who have been seen leaning heavily on the side of the ruling party. It was therefore, not a surprise that he had been a regular target in times of unrest.

As we go to press, the whereabouts of Ibrahim Mambo Kamara are still unknown.
