Bank of Sierra Leone Announces Extension Of National Switch Integration Deadline

Freetown,

On April 10, 2025, the Bank of Sierra Leone announced an extension of the deadline for financial institutions and fintech companies to integrate with the National Switch. Initially set for March 31, 2025, the new deadline has been pushed to June 30, 2025.

This extension comes as a relief to financial institutions and fintech firms that were unable to complete the integration process by the original deadline.

The Bank of Sierra Leone emphasized that all entities yet to join the National Switch must engage with its National Switch Department to ensure compliance before the new cutoff date.

During the extended period from March 31 to June 30, existing bilateral agreements between financial institutions and fintech firms will remain valid. However, the Bank of Sierra Leone expects full integration from all relevant stakeholders by the new deadline.

The National Switch is a critical initiative aimed at enhancing the efficiency and interoperability of domestic financial transactions in Sierra Leone. The Bank urges all institutions to expedite their integration process to meet the final deadline.

For further details, financial institutions and fintech companies are encouraged to contact the National Switch Department at the Bank of Sierra Leone.
