Horrendous Officiating Leads to Abandoned Match
Luawa FC Premier League squad made the unprecedented decision to leave the pitch at halftime in the match against Diamond Stars this afternoon due to a series of controversial officiating decisions by center referee; Ref Ibrahim Turay (Curvetaker) and Assistant Referees (AR) Alfred Bayoh and Edward Musa. The assistant referee allowed a clear offside goal and issued a red card to our striker, after he protested a penalty decision that should not have been awarded against us. These decisions appeared to be part of a pattern of premeditated actions by the referee, raising concerns about the integrity of officiating in our matches.
Last week, we faced similar issues during our one-nil defeat against Ports Authority, highlighting a troubling trend that seems orchestrated and warrants public attention.
Despite our attempts to address these grievances privately, we have found that complaining behind the scenes has yielded no results, leaving clubs to suffer in silence.
While walking away from the match is not an ideal response, we hope it will shed light on what we believe to be a coordinated conspiracy against our team.
We urge the referees’ committee to investigate this incident thoroughly and take necessary action. Additionally, we call on the Premier League Board to implement essential measures against referees who compromise the integrity of the game and undermine the excellent work done in organizing matches.
We extend our apologies to our fans and the Diamonds Stars fans. Still, we firmly believe that while the immediate outcome of the game may be unsatisfactory, the long-term implications of our decision serve the greater good of the sport.
