Sierra Leone Police Manhunts Doctor Wilson

The Sierra Leone Police are currently searching for Doctor Modupeh Wilson and his family.

Dr. Wilson had served as Makeni’s Hospital Medical Superintendent for almost 10 years and had developed a good rapport with both staff and community members. In addition to serving as medical superintendent since 22nd October 2011, he was highly regarded as a mentor and friend to many young people.
However, the Government accused Dr. Wilson of inciting the July 17th-18th 2020 violence in Makeni. A generator had been moved from Makeni to the airport town of Lungi, triggering the protest. As a result, Dr. Wilson was transferred to Freetown, where he faced various forms of intimidation.
In addition to his medical duties, Dr. Wilson also ran the Redeemers School of Nursing, which was unfortunately forced to shut down by the Government. The nursing school had been instrumental in training numerous aspiring nurses, and Dr. Wilson had actively engaged with young people by providing scholarships. The proximity of the nursing school to All People’s Congress party office attracted the Government.

The Presidential guard shot and killed a relative of Doctor Wilson’s wife Matron Mahawa Dumbuya. The killing of Mahawa, Gloria Wilson’s sister at the APC party office devastated her. Mahawa, a volunteer nurse was shot in the head by Presidential guards during a press conference after the June 24 2023 elections.

A planned press conference by Dr. Samura Kamara was disrupted by the President guard force. Mahawa was shot in head and party officials held hostage.

Currently, the Sierra Leone Police is actively searching for Dr. Wilson and his family. The reasons behind this manhunt remain unclear, but it is evident that Dr. Wilson’s actions and influence have made him a target of the Government’s scrutiny.
