The Civil Society Consortium on Petroleum has openly praised the leadership and management of the Petroleum Regulatory Agency (PRA) in Sierra Leone under Brima Balowa Koroma for their recent implementation of a new pricing formula for petroleum products, aligning with global standards. Alphonso Manley and William Saio Lamin in an interview with this media commended Balowa Koroma for introducing sound and effective policies that have consistently positioned the PRA at the forefront of the industry. They emphasized the agency’s commitment to ensuring a steady supply of petroleum products in the market, citing the new pricing formula as a significant step towards conformity with international market trends.
Both Lamin and Manley commendation highlights the proactive measures undertaken by the PRA, led by Balowa Koroma, affirms that the agency’s efforts are praiseworthy, and recognizes the importance of aligning local practices with international benchmarks. By introducing a pricing formula that reflects global standards, the PRA aims to enhance transparency and competitiveness in the petroleum sector, thereby benefiting consumers and stakeholders alike. Manley’s positive appraisal signifies a step in the right direction for the industry and underscores the significance of effective governance and policy implementation in ensuring a robust and sustainable market for petroleum products.
According to William Saio Lamin, he said, the Consortium recently engaged civil Society Society Organizations nationwide on the new pricing formula. The Consortium , he said, has also recommended to government that the PRA be transformed from an Agency to an Authority which will give them the autonomy to be able to take strong decisions and as well make critical decisions in the discharge of their duties
