Kabineh Kallon to replace Tuma Jabbie
Credible and reliably informed sources have confided in The Times SL Newspaper that President Julius Maada Bio will soon appoint Former Transport Minister, Kabineh Kallon, to head the National Revenue Authority as Board Chairperson replacing Lawyer Tuma Gento Jabbie Kamara.
Minister Kallon, who was disgracefully replaced in the second tenure of President Bio, will be the country’s new Board Chairperson at the office of National Revenue Authority.
Sources disclosed that Minister Kallon is alleged to have held secret meetings with some cross-section of staff at NRA, assuring them of his fullest protection and support, as he will be coming to build his own team, something Minister Kallon told members at the secret meeting, expressing how he has already got the blessings of the President to do what is expected of him once he took his new office. Part of his secret meeting is to bring back custom officers transferred from the main customs office at Cline Town to other locations. Among those expected to be reposted are the likes of Abu Kanneh, former Customs Commissioner, among others. By doing so, Kabineh Kallon will also bring in the likes of Massaquoi, etc.

Concerns are that Minister Kallon is also coming to execute another orchestrated action, once exhibited at the office of Statistics Sierra Leone, to cleverly remove NRA workers suspected to be northerners. This brings memories of what happened at Statistics Sierra Leone, when the Bio Government took office in 2018. Over 200 people were unlawfully sacked, with majority of them being northerners. Kabineh Kallon had once worked at the National Revenue Authority in the days of the late President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah. Those who know him will tell you that he has nothing good to offer, other than what was exhibited and evidenced during his tenure at the Ministry of Transport and Aviation.
President Julius Maada Bio should do a rethink of not bringing someone to head a sensitive office of such nature as Board Chairperson. Though it is the President’s prerogative to hire and fire, some school of thoughts hold the view that the office of the National Revenue Authority is a very sensitive one, and that appointment of such nature should be someone who has the finesse and wherewithal to make meaningful and accurate decision that would be in the interest of the entire nation.
