The APC Former Ministers’ Association (FORMINA) paid a courtesy visit on former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma to formally welcome him home and convey its appreciation following his return to Sierra Leone after a two-year absence abroad.
Speaking on behalf of the Association, Comrade Al-Sankoh-Conteh, Vice Chairman of FORMINA, expressed gratitude to the former President for agreeing to return to Sierra Leone and contribute to efforts aimed at promoting peace and reconciliation.
He warmly welcomed Dr. Koroma and briefed him on FORMINA’s continued role in supporting the All People’s Congress (APC) since the Association was established in 2019. He reaffirmed that FORMINA was founded to support the party and would remain committed to promoting unity, peace and reconciliation within the APC.
The FORMINA delegation was comprised of Cmr. Dr. Richard Konteh, Cmr. Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo, Cmr. Sidi Yaya Tunis, Cmr. Ahmed Khanou, Cmr. Gibril Sesay, Cmr. Alhaji M.A. Jalloh, Cmr. Alhaji Hassan Barrie, Cmr. Madina Rahman, Cmr. Rugiatu Neneh Turay, Cmr. Abdul Babagaleh Barrie, Cmr. Mamoud Tarawali, and Cmr. Al-Sankoh-Conteh.
Responding, former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma thanked members of FORMINA for what he described as a timely visit. He characterised the engagement as a family gathering, which provided an opportunity to reflect on their years of working together in the service and governance of Sierra Leone.
Dr. Koroma also reflected on his time in Nigeria, noting that the experience had broadened his understanding of political, economic and peacebuilding issues. He expressed his desire to draw on those experiences in advancing the work of his foundation, and indicated his willingness to collaborate with FORMINA in areas of common interest.
He further highlighted the foundation’s focus on peacebuilding and capacity development, noting that former ministers, with their wealth of experience in public service and governance, could play an important role in advancing these objectives.
The visit reaffirmed the longstanding relationship between the former President and members of his former administration, while underscoring FORMINA’s commitment to peace, reconciliation, unity and the strengthening of the APC.
