As the founder and CEO of Dorogis Limited, Fatunbi has established himself as an emerging force in Nigeria’s mining and natural resources industry. Fatunbi advocates for transforming Africa’s approach to natural resources by moving away from the traditional model of exporting raw materials towards local processing, beneficiation, industrialisation, and value creation within Africa, particularly in resource-rich countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sierra Leone, Namibia, Zambia, South Africa, and Mozambique.
His advocacy includes proposals for stronger institutional frameworks for geological exploration and mineral development, including the establishment of the equivalent of Brazil’s CPRM, while promoting responsible mining practices that prioritise environmental sustainability, community engagement, and social licence to operate.
The African Entrepreneur of the Year Award – Mining & Natural Resources recognises not only Fatunbi’s achievements as an entrepreneur but also his contribution to redefining what is possible within Africa’s mining industry.
Speaking on the recognition, Fatunbi described the award as both an honour and a renewed responsibility to contribute to Africa’s development.
