NSCORD Discusses Security & Governance with Paramount Chiefs

The National Security Coordination and Research Directorate (NSCORD) will convene a landmark National Consultation with Paramount Chiefs on Security and Governance, bringing together key stakeholders to strengthen collaboration on peace, security, and national development across Sierra Leone.

The high-level conference will be attended by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), the Inspector General of Police (IG), senior government officials, traditional authorities, and other security sector leaders. Their participation reflects the importance attached to strengthening cooperation between the country’s security institutions and Paramount Chiefs in addressing national security challenges.

The consultation will provide a platform for dialogue on enhancing community security, promoting good governance, preventing conflict, and reinforcing the role of traditional leaders in maintaining peace and stability throughout the country.

The Government of Sierra Leone, under the leadership of Julius Maada Bio, has welcomed the initiative as a significant step toward deepening national unity and improving the country’s security architecture through inclusive engagement with traditional authorities.

NSCORD emphasized that the consultation demonstrates a shared commitment to safeguarding Sierra Leone’s peace by fostering stronger partnerships between security institutions and community leaders, ensuring that national security remains a collective responsibility.
