APC MP Hamidu Holla Mansaray Implicated in US$11,000 Travel Scam

Honourable Hamidu Holla Mansaray, Member of Parliament for Constituency 043, popularly known as “Eskimo Jr.,” has been charged before Magistrate A.S. Ndoleh at Ross Road Court No. 7 in Freetown over an allegation of obtaining money by false pretences.

The accused is facing one count of obtaining money by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act, 1916.

According to the charge sheet, Hon. Mansaray allegedly obtained US$11,000 from the complainant, Mohamed Mansaray, sometime in 2024 at No. 69 Wellington Street, Freetown, with intent to defraud. The prosecution alleges that he falsely represented that he would facilitate the complainant’s travel to the United States of America, knowing the representation to be false.

When the matter came up for hearing on 27 July 2026, neither counsel for the prosecution nor the defence was present in court. The accused was also absent.

In response, Magistrate A.S. Ndoleh stated that a bench warrant would be issued for the arrest of the accused to ensure his appearance before the court for the continuation of proceedings.

The matter has been adjourned pending further proceedings.
