As the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) prepares for the crucial task of electing its next flagbearer for the 2028 presidential election, delegates will be called upon to make a defining decision—one that will shape the future of both the Party and the nation. In my view, that decision should be Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally.
Among the aspiring candidates, Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally stands out as a seasoned politician, accomplished administrator, and committed Party loyalist, whose record of service is difficult to match. His unwavering dedication to the SLPP spans decades and reflects a lifetime of sacrifice, loyalty, and effective leadership.
Within the Party, Hon. Tarawally has served with distinction in several strategic positions, including District Young Generation Leader, District Chairman, Member of Parliament and member of the Strategic Elections and Planning Committee. These roles have given him a profound understanding of the SLPP’s values, structures, and grassroots base. He has not merely belonged to the Party —he has helped build and strengthen it.
His experience in governance is equally remarkable. He has served Sierra Leone with dedication as Resident Minister for the Southern Region, Minister of Internal Affairs, and Minister of Lands, Country Planning and the Environment. These appointments entrusted him with significant national responsibilities and demonstrated the confidence successive leadership placed in his abilities.
Beyond public office, Hon. Tarawally has continued to make meaningful contributions through the private sector and philanthropy. His outreach has touched the lives of ordinary Sierra Leoneans across regional, religious, tribal, and social divides. His supporters see him as a unifying figure who believes that national development must benefit every citizen, regardless of background.
The SLPP has always been strongest when it rallies behind leaders who combine experience with vision, loyalty with competence, and humility with courage. In my opinion, Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally embodies these qualities. He represents continuity where it matters, while offering the energy and strategic leadership needed to inspire a new generation of Party supporters.
As delegates gather at the forthcoming National Delegates Convention, they will have a historic opportunity to choose a leader capable of uniting the party and presenting a compelling vision to the people of Sierra Leone. I believe Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally possesses the experience, character, and political maturity to carry the SLPP’s banner with distinction.
The road to victory in 2028 begins with selecting the right leader. For many supporters, that leader is Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally—a steadfast servant of the Party, a respected statesman, and a man whose lifetime of service has prepared him for the highest responsibility.
2028 is not simply about winning an election; it is about choosing a leader who can unite the SLPP, inspire confidence across the nation, and build on the party’s achievements. In my view, Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally is that leader, and the time to rally behind him is now.
