Orange Money Warns Customers Against WhatsApp Fraud Scams, Urges Vigilance

Orange Money has issued a public alert to customers following a rise in fraudulent activities involving the hacking of WhatsApp accounts and impersonation of friends and family members to solicit money.

The company is urging users to remain vigilant and verify all requests for financial assistance before sending money, warning that fraudsters are increasingly using social engineering tactics to deceive unsuspecting victims.

According to Orange Money, customers should stop and verify any unusual request for money by making a direct phone call to the person involved before completing any transaction. The company noted that a simple verification step could help prevent individuals from falling victim to scams.

“Before you send money, STOP and VERIFY. A quick phone call can save you from becoming a victim of fraud,” Orange Money advised customers.

The company further encouraged anyone who suspects fraudulent activity to report it immediately by calling 100 or visiting the nearest Orange Money outlet for assistance.

Orange Money reaffirmed its commitment to protecting customers and maintaining a secure digital financial environment, while encouraging users to stay alert and take proactive measures to safeguard their funds.

“Your security is our priority. Stay vigilant and protect your money,” the company stated.
