Africell Sierra Leone has once again demonstrated its strong commitment to community engagement and social responsibility by supporting thousands of Muslims across the country during this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations held on Friday, March 20, 2026.
As worshippers gathered at various prayer grounds nationwide to mark the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the telecommunications company distributed thousands of bottles of water and date palm fruits to fasting Muslims. In addition, Africell provided sound systems at several prayer venues to enhance the overall prayer experience, ensuring clarity and inclusivity during the congregational worship.

The initiative forms part of Africell’s broader Ramadan outreach programme, which is designed to promote unity, compassion, and goodwill within communities across Sierra Leone. The company’s efforts throughout the holy month have been widely recognized as impactful, particularly at a time when many families rely on collective support and generosity.
Speaking on the initiative, the Senior Event and Sponsorship Manager of Africell Sierra Leone, Nancy Toure, underscored the company’s longstanding tradition of giving back to society, especially during significant religious periods.
“Throughout the month of Ramadan, we have actively supported our Muslim brothers and sisters through rice distribution and a special Ramadan television programme. As we conclude the holy month, we find it important to continue this support during such a meaningful moment of prayer,” she stated.
Nancy Toure further emphasized that Africell’s commitment extends beyond its core business operations, reflecting a deep-rooted connection with the people it serves.
“While we are a business entity, we believe in building meaningful relationships and giving back to the community. This is something we take pride in, and we will continue to support impactful initiatives whenever possible,” she added.
The gesture was warmly received by members of the Muslim community across the country, many of whom expressed heartfelt appreciation for what they described as a timely and thoughtful intervention. For many worshippers, the provision of water and dates—essential elements for breaking fast—helped ease the physical demands of the day and contributed to a more comfortable and spiritually fulfilling celebration.
Some beneficiaries also used the opportunity to call on other corporate institutions and stakeholders to emulate Africell’s example by investing in initiatives that promote inclusivity, compassion, and national cohesion, particularly during religious and cultural observances.
Africell Sierra Leone continues to position itself as a leader in corporate social responsibility, consistently aligning its brand with people-centered initiatives that make a tangible difference in communities. Through sustained outreach efforts like its Ramadan and Eid support programmes, the company reinforces its role not only as a telecommunications provider but also as a committed partner in national development and social welfare.
