Moyamba Town, Southern Province, 16 January,2036

His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio, officially commissioned the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) District Office Building in Moyamba, describing the facility as a critical step toward expanding social protection, decentralising public services, and strengthening inclusive development across Sierra Leone.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, President Bio said the establishment of the NASSIT office in Moyamba reflects his government’s determination to bring essential public services closer to the people, particularly workers in provincial and rural communities, who form the backbone of the national economy.

“This building is not just about bricks and mortar,” the President stated. “It is about dignity, security, and the assurance that the hardworking people of this district and surrounding areas can access their social security benefits with ease and confidence.”

President Bio noted that social security remains a cornerstone of human capital development, stressing that a responsive and accessible pension system is essential for protecting workers during their productive years and in retirement. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening institutions that safeguard workers’ rights and welfare.

The President commended NASSIT for its consistent reforms, improved governance, and expansion of services nationwide. He acknowledged the institution’s role in supporting national development through prudent investments, job creation, and the protection of contributors’ funds.

He further emphasized that decentralization remains a key policy priority of his government, adding that facilities such as the Moyamba NASSIT office help reduce pressure on Freetown, while improving efficiency and service delivery.

President Bio encouraged NASSIT staff to uphold professionalism, transparency, and integrity in the discharge of their duties, reminding them that public trust is built through accountability and quality service to contributors and beneficiaries.

The commissioning ceremony brought together government officials, traditional authorities, NASSIT Board, management and staff, and members of the public, who welcomed the facility as a timely intervention that will enhance access to pension and social security services in Moyamba.

The new Moyamba NASSIT office is expected to serve contributors and beneficiaries across the district and neighboring areas, reinforcing the government’s broader agenda of inclusive growth, social protection, and people-centered governance.
