In a gesture of appreciation, Mr. Joe Thomas, Chairman of Bo Rangers Football Club, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Brima Mohammed Baluwa Koroma, Director General of the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA), in Freetown. The visit was aimed at expressing gratitude for the Director General’s continued support to the Southern Region and the football club.

During the meeting, Mr. Joe Thomas presented a personalized Bo Rangers T-shirt with the name “Baluwa” boldly inscribed on it. In response, DG Koroma thanked the Chairman and the entire Bo Rangers family for the honor, and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the club’s aspirations.
He further recalled that during their youthful days, the club was popularly known as Kakua Football Club, highlighting the team’s admirable journey and growth over the years. Bo Rangers, a leading force in the Sierra Leone Premier League, has made remarkable strides, including back-to-back league titles in 2022 and 2023.
DG Koroma’s remarks on football’s role in fostering national peace, education, and development reflect a growing global understanding of the sport’s transformative power. Football, often described as a universal language, unites people, strengthens social cohesion, and drives meaningful progress.

Through football, young people develop essential life skills including teamwork, discipline, and leadership. The sport also opens doors to scholarships, mentorship, and community development opportunities.

Globally, football has demonstrated its ability to stimulate economic activities by creating jobs, supporting local industries, and boosting national pride. Although challenges exist, its potential remains significant.
In Sierra Leone, football holds similar promise for socio-economic development, youth empowerment, and community upliftment.
DG Baluwa Koroma also highlighted the NPRA’s active participation in the ongoing Inter-MDA Football Gala, proudly noting that the NPRA team has qualified for the semi-finals. He emphasized how the tournament has strengthened camaraderie, laughter, friendship, sportsmanship, and teamwork across institutions.
