FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CSO NATIONAL CONSORTIUM ON PUBLIC ACCOUNTABILITY DEMANDS FOR THE IMMEDIATE REINSTATEMENT OF HON. JUSTICE MOMOH JAH STEVENS

The CSO National Consortium on Public Accountability assesses the whole saga as a character assassination of a person whom many considered to be a man of impeccable character

We have concluded a thorough investigation into the allegations made by Ms. Edwina Jamiru and have found them to be not only factually inaccurate but a malicious and orchestrated character assassination.

Central to Ms. Jamiru’s claim is the false assertion that Justice Stevens was her lecturer at Fourah Bay College. Our investigation definitively concludes that this is a lie.

  • Justice Stevens met Ms. Jamiru on October -2023, several weeks before she commenced her diploma program at the Fourah Bay College.

However, as a substantive lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Justice Stevens has never taught, and does not teach any diploma courses. He exclusively lectures the substantive faculty students.

Therefore, the foundational premise of her narrative—a teacher -student relationship—is a complete fabrication. Thus, the university should warn and stop her false claims in order to deceive the public.

Moreover, our inquiry into Ms. Jamiru’s background has revealed a damming picturesque pattern of inconsistent and troubling behavior that severely damages her credibility.

Furthermore, when she informed Justice Stevens of her pregnancy, his response was measured, tailored and responsible:

he expressed his initial disbelief but committed to a DNA test upon delivery to resolve the matter factually.

Apparently, Justice Stevens it is evident that he did not challenge the subsequent court judgment and has complied with the court’s ruling, including the levied amount.

We have documented that Ms. Jamiru has a history of making serious, unsubstantiated allegations, including public claims of being raped in Kenema. She has also previously complained to Fourah Bay College about corruption and sexual harassment, following a pattern of targeting institutions and individuals.

Reports from her past indicated she faced personal challenges during her secondary school education, including pregnancies, which tragically led to family distress. This context is critical to understanding the current situation.

It is therefore baffling that she would now level such grave accusations against a man of impeccable standing, while having previously claimed to be a victim of rape by another individual.

Justice Stevens has served Fourah Bay College for four years with an unblemished record, earning respect from colleagues and students alike. The Judge in the recent case explicitly warned Ms. Jamiru to refrain from further public commentary, an instruction she has blatantly ignored.

It is our firm conviction that Ms. Jamiru is a pawn in a larger, more sinister game. She is being instigated and manipulated by powerful, shadowy figures intent on destroying the reputation and career of a distinguished Justice.

We warn those behind this scheme: the weapon you are sharpening today will one day be turned against you.

The Consortium therefore calls for:

  1. The immediate and unconditional reinstatement of Hon. Justice Momoh JAH Stevens to his position as High Court Judge.
  2. A public apology from Ms. Edwina Jamiru for her defamatory statements.
  3. A full and transparent investigation by the appropriate judicial and disciplinary bodies into the actors instigating this malicious campaign.
  4. The court to put a stop to Ms Jamiru from making any media statements

Conclusively, the NCPA stands firmly behind any individual whose rights are being violated.
