BANJUL, The Gambia, 22nd September, 2025, Judiciary of Sierra Leone Communications:
His Lordship; the Honourable Chief Justice Komba Kamanda, joined colleague Chief Justices at the Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges’ 20th Triennial Conference in The Gambia on the theme, “Combating Corruption and Promoting Accountability in the Judicial Sector.”
The Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges’ Association (CMJA) Conference is a premier gathering of judicial officers from across the Commonwealth. CMJA draws membership from 54 Commonwealth countries.
The Chief Justice’s participation in the CMJA Conference marks a significant step in strengthening international judicial collaboration and underscores the country’s commitment to upholding the rule of law, judicial independence, and good governance. The presence of high-ranking judicial leaders at such a forum enables the exchange of best practices, judicial reforms, and new strategies for addressing common challenges such as case backlogs, corruption, and threats to judicial impartiality.
The 2025 theme resonates deeply with Chief Justice Komba Kamanda’s advocacy for judicial independence and the continued professional development of judicial officers.
“The knowledge and experiences shared at the CMJA Conference will contribute to ongoing reforms and capacity-building under my watch,” said Honourable Chief Justice Komba Kamanda, adding that, “at the end of the conference, we would continue to ensure that justice is not only done, but seen to be done.”
The CJMA’s Triennial Conference commenced on Sunday, 21st September, and will end on Friday, 26th September, 2025.
