Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has urged content creators to take the opportunity of telling more uplifting stories about the country. Minister Bah was speaking during the launch of a UNDP funded training program for content creators at the Africell Impact Digital Training Center, Wilkinson Road.

“We all create contents and post them every day. My message to you all is that you should take this as a civic duty. Use this opportunity to do uplifting stories and promote the culture of the country by telling good stories through the contents you create,” Minister Bah said.

This training, which is also supported by Africell and Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Technology, brings together more than twenty content creators from all over the country.

The training program aims to empower young Sierra Leonean storytellers to use digital tools to tell Sierra Leonean stories through its civic values. The training will include alignment of content creation around the thematic civic pillars and the government’s Big 5 priorities.

Throughout this training, participants will learn how to create civic focused contents for social media, and explore how AI can enhance storytelling. They will also learn skills on recognizing misinformation and disinformation campaigns online. Participants will also have the opportunity to be paired with mentors that will work with them for a number of weeks.

Minister Bah said this training is the start of a partnership he wants to establish with  content creators.

“We want to partner with you. We want to make use of the resources you have, along with our partners, so we can work together in telling good and positive stories about our country and promote good values, because ‘Salone Big Pas We All’ and it is for us all.”
