November 26th Foiled Coup: Tafsir Trye Declared Wanted by Sierra Leone Police

The Sierra Leone Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of Tafsir Trye, a man in his late-thirties, and was also serving prison sentences at the maximum Pademba Prison. According to police reports, Trye  was among those who fled and escaped from Prison during the November 26 foiled coup.

Authorities have indicated that over One Thousand Prisoners escaped after the prison main door was damaged by those who tried to overthrown the government.
When they arrived at the Pademba Prison, they fired rocket propeller grande to open the main door. During the course of that, some items were stolen and there prisoners who while trying to escape died during the process, the police spokesman Brima Kamara said on a radio interview.
The police spokesman also stated that  Trye’ and others who knows they were in prison serving sentences should show up to continue serving their sentences.
The attempted coup on November 26 was thwarted by loyal security forces who swiftly responded to the threat, defending the constitutional government against insurgents aiming to overthrow President Bio’s administration. The situation was contained without further escalation, and security forces continue to investigate the incident.

Currently, Trye’s whereabouts are unknown, and law enforcement agencies have placed a bounty on his head, inviting the public to assist with information that could lead to his arrest. The police urge anyone with relevant information to come forward to ensure justice is served and to prevent any future threats to national stability.

The authorities reaffirm their commitment to maintaining peace and security in Sierra Leone and are working tirelessly to apprehend all individuals involved in the attempted coup.
