Comrade Adams Bangura Calls for Unity in APC

His words resonated deeply as they emphasised the importance of unity, collaboration, and the indomitable spirit of the diaspora, Sixth Region.

Comrade Adams Bangura delivered a passionate message at the APC- WMC (Washington Metropolitan Chapter) on 14th June, 2025.

To want to lead is to understand that leadership is not self-serving, nor is it about wealth; it is about the willingness to serve and make a difference.

The Diaspora Sixth Region, with its diverse geopolitical landscapes and varying economic strengths, presents a unique opportunity for us to come together to drive meaningful change. Leadership does not require one to be the wealthiest individual; rather, it necessitates a reservoir of goodwill. Goodwill is the currency of effective leadership—it allows us to connect, inspire, and mobilise others toward a common goal.

On his second visit to the United States in less than a month, Comrade Adams Bangura, the aspiring Chairman for the Diaspora Sixth Region, reminded his audience of one fundamental truth: “In the midst of our internal challenges, we must rely on divine guidance and support rather than solely on our own efforts.”

He emphasised that no two persons are the same, and in the pursuit of our personal interests, we mustn’t forget about the greater good, the people, and the reasons why we chose to serve. Each encounter affirmed this belief, revealing the power of unity and collaboration. As diasporans, we are Ambassadors for our party and, thus, reflecting the image of our country, Sierra Leone, wherever we find ourselves.

He appreciated the warmth and meritorious award given to him for service to the APC party, and contributions towards the diaspora: “Your show of support and love underscores the fact that we are stronger together, united in our aspirations for progress and empowerment.”

This encapsulates the theme of the “Night Rising Together: A Night to Empower Change,” it serves as a powerful reminder that we are not alone in our journey.

“Sierra Leone’s ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Sowah’s commitment to work with us reaffirms that our voices carry weight and that our collective actions can lead to significant change. He thanked the ambassador for making time to attend this all important opposition gathering.”

“As we reflect on these experiences, I encourage each of us to harness the goodwill within our hearts. Let us show up—not just in words, but in action—working tirelessly for our people. When we align our intentions with our efforts, we pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future.” He told his audience that with the now-released timetable for the APC internal elections, “our return to power starts with the people we elect in our primaries leading up to the national delegates convention”. He said, “Let us not continue to do the same thing and expect a different outcome or some sort of miracle.”

Comrade Adams Bangura told his audience that if we truly want our party to come back to power, we must elect the very best among us and set aside all personal sentiments. Until then, we are dealing with a very vicious opposition that is not going to cede power to us, simply because they’ve messed up. We have to fight for it, as if our lives depend on it”.

“We need diaspora leaders who possess the requisite negotiating skills and the art of diplomacy at the highest levels, lest we come to regret our actions. Together, we can create a ripple effect of positive change, proving that even the smallest of efforts can lead to monumental transformation. Let’s continue to rise together, for the strength of the diaspora lies in our unity and shared purpose”. He concluded by thanking his host and assuring his comrades of his continued support when called upon.
