Sylvester massaquoi Faces Death Threat for Being Homosexual

In a police press conference held yesterday, May 10th, 2024 in Freetown, police say they have declared one Sylvester massaquoi aged 30 years and a resident of 5 Congo water wellington in Freetown, Sierra Leone, wanted for his alleged involvement in Homosexual, (bisexual) activities contrary to the laws of the Sierra Leone.

Sylvester massaquoi, who comes from a Muslim background with her father, Maada massaquoi being a strong Muslim figure in the society, is said to have committed one of the worse crimes by getting himself involved in gay life.

The act, which is one among many of the violations of the laws of Sierra Leone, could result to 14 years imprisonment together with hard labour when convicted. Police say earlier this month, some Homosexual friends held a party for their membership, where Sylvester massaquoi and some of his male Homosexual friends were caught having sex.
Some of the Homosexual were arrested and detained by the Police and community youth, whiles Sylvester massaquoi and some other of his Homosexual colleagues managed to escape the scene uncaught.

The incident lasted for over five hours as throng of youth within the area descended to either set Sylvester and George alive for what they described as sacrilege against their customs, traditions and religious beliefs or teach them the worse lesson of their lives.

Other relatives and community member knowing that Sylvester father is a well-known Muslim leader within the community and also a well-respected personality, did not spare him as they all denounced the act whilst calling for punishment with others suggesting death.
Reports say few weeks later, Sylvester and George were spotted in the provinces but all attempts to search for them proved futile.

A legal luminary, Ibrahim Mansaray when contacted to give his legal advice on the issue told this medium that anybody arrested and charged to court and found guilty for offences related to gay, bisexual and lesbianism will go for life imprisonment for a period of 14 years backed with hard labour.

However, family sources disclosed that since the father of Sylvester massaquoi disowned him, his whereabouts remained unknown and that she has also been declared wanted.
