The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has officially launched its 2025 recruitment drive, opening opportunities for Sierra Leoneans to join the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Positions are available for Officer Cadets, Specialists, Trades, and Non-Tradesmen and Women.
A statement from the RSLAF emphasized the importance of this recruitment to bolster the nation’s defense capabilities.
“We are looking for disciplined, skilled, and patriotic individuals to serve in various capacities within our forces,” said a spokesperson for the RSLAF.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants for Specialist Cadets or Tradespersons must meet specific requirements, including:
– Sierra Leonean citizenship by birth.
– Possession of a National Identification Number (NIN).
– Being medically, physically, and psychologically fit.
– A clean criminal record.
– An undergraduate degree from a recognized university.
Applicants must also fall between 18 and 25 years of age, with a minimum height of 1.68m (5’5”) for males and 1.62m (5’3”) for females. Specialists should have at least five years of professional experience, and membership in a credible professional body is an advantage.
For Trades and Non-Trades positions, literacy and a minimum of five years of specialized skills are required.
Application Process
Candidates are required to submit handwritten applications with supporting documents to their respective regional Brigade Commanders. Applications can be delivered to the following locations:
– Northern Region: 4 Infantry Brigade, TEKO Barracks, Makeni
– Eastern Region: 2 Infantry Brigade, Reservation, Kenema
– Southern Region: 5 Infantry Brigade, GONDAMA Barracks, Bo
– Western Region: 3 Infantry Brigade, MURRAY Town Barracks, Freetown
– North-Western Region: 15 Infantry Battalion, LUNGI Barracks, Lungi
The deadline for submission is Monday, January 20, 2025, at 4:00 pm.
Specialist Fields and Trades
The RSLAF is seeking specialists in areas such as medicine, civil engineering, ICT, media, surveying, and fitness training. Trade skills needed include vehicle mechanics, heavy-duty drivers, electricians, and carpenters, among others.
“We are committed to ensuring that our forces are equipped with highly skilled professionals to meet the challenges of modern defense,” the RSLAF spokesperson added.

Applicants must include key documents such as their birth certificate, educational certificates, National ID card, and a stamped reference letter from a community leader. The RSLAF warns that falsification of documents or bribery will lead to immediate dismissal and legal action.
