Credible sources within the corridors of power have it that the current Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police,William Fayia Sellu, will soon be replaced.
TSL undercover reporter learned that President Julius Maada Bio has already been briefed and that two prominent police officers have been earmarked, and one of them will likely be the next Inspector General of Police. The officers, according to sources, are AIG Kanneh and AIG Sylvester Koroma. It is not clear on what grounds the President is contemplating on replacing the IG. Others strongly believe that with his “Supreme Executive Authority” it is the prerogative of the President to hire and fire, as backed by the country’s 1991 constitution. There are those who hold the view that IG Fayia Sellu hasn’t got a good working relationship with his officers and that this has led to serious beefing within the police force, and that majority of the police officers are just waiting for the official announcement, which will see them celebrate the exit of someone they claimed is a “dictator “.
