Abdulai Sesay, age 23, resides in the Moyiba community in the eastern part of Freetown wanted for the offense of manslaughter.
A warrant of arrest had been issued by the Sierra magistrate court in Freetown.
According to investigations and interviews with community elders and other residents, Abdulai is considered a native son of the community. They also revealed that he has been in a relationship with 19-year-old Isatu Jalloh, a Fulah by tribe, and both of them live in the same community.
Unfortunately, Abdulai failed to acknowledge that he had impregnated Isatu Jalloh, whose tribe does not encourage premarital sex, which is considered forbidden and an abomination.
The options presented were either to disown their daughter or to have her immediately wed before she gives birth.
One afternoon, Isatu’s aunt paid a courtesy call to their house and noticed that Isatu was pregnant. Isatu then went to the hospital with her mother and aunt to confirm the pregnancy. After the test proved positive, Isatu’s mother explained the situation to her elder brothers, who were displeased. When asked who the father was, Isatu responded that it was Abdulai.
The news reached other family members of Isatu, and they concluded that Abdulai could not marry their sister because he is poor. If Isatu insisted, the family would disown her.
According to investigations, one of Isatu’s brothers, Chernor Jalloh, belongs to a gang group called G-State, based at Mount Aureol in Freetown, which has been in existence since 2022.
On the 10th of September 2022, at around 11:30 PM, Chernor’s gang decided to confront Abdulai at his residence. During the physical attack, Abdulai, in self-defense, pushed one of Isatu’s brothers, who fell to the ground. Unbeknownst to Abdulai, the brother was an epilepsy patient, which led to serious bleeding. He was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.
Abdulai was charged with manslaughter but immediately fled from his residence and is now nowhere to be found.
