On Friday, 21st June 2024, in Lumley, Orange SL made a significant contribution to the President Bio Pediatric Center of Excellence Hospital by donating computers to enhance digitization and improve data collection processes. The donation aims to modernize the hospital’s operations, facilitating efficient data management and patient care.
Dr. Ishatu Mustapha, the Medical Superintendent, highlighted the importance of this donation during her brief statement. She detailed the hospital’s structure, which comprises two buildings with seven inpatient units and a total of 142 beds for patients. Among these, 46 beds are allocated specifically for mothers of newborns. The hospital also boasts specialized outpatient facilities, a clinic for sickle cell patients, and various other services. Additionally, it features a mobile X-ray unit and a center dedicated to both postgraduate and undergraduate medical students, accommodating up to 100 students, as well as a conference room.
Dr. Mustapha Kabba, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, conveyed the minister’s appreciation for Orange SL’s support. He emphasized the importance of digitizing the facility, noting that it is crucial for a modern hospital to avoid the outdated practice of managing patient files manually. Dr. Kabba expressed gratitude towards Orange SL for being the first organization to step forward with such support and urged other partners to follow suit. He also highlighted the need for robust internet connectivity to complement the digital systems and appealed to Orange SL to consider providing this additional support. Dr. Kabba reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to serving the people of Sierra Leone and providing comprehensive medical care.
The CEO of Orange SL expressed his pleasure at being part of this initiative, congratulating everyone involved in the facility’s operations for their dedication. He reiterated Orange SL’s ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Health, emphasizing that this donation is part of a continuing relationship. The CEO assured that the computers provided would significantly aid the doctors in their duties.
