It’s alleged that huge amount of substances suspected to be “cocaine”, was discovered in one of the Embassy’s official vehicles.

And it’s also alleged that the Ambassador’s official driver was caught with a physical cash of 100, 000 US dollars in one of the Embassy’s utility vehicles.

Ambassador Alimamy Bangura: Has caused diplomatic scandal and blunder to Sierra Leone

Diplomatic immunity, as outlined in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, typically protects Ambassadors from prosecution and detention. However, the Convention also emphasizes the importance of respecting local laws and regulations.

As it stands, Conakry may declare Ambassador Bangura persona non grata, if found guilty, effectively expelling him from Guinea, or Freetown may recall him immediately to mitigate diplomatic tensions.

The incident may strain relations between Guinea and Sierra Leone, potentially impacting bilateral cooperation.
