The Koroma family in Makeni in the Bombali District, Northern Province of the republic of Sierra Leone are worried about the whereabout of their son Johnson Amadu Koroma who Narrowly escaped in the hands of traditional secret society initiators, following preparation to take him through the final stages of the ceremonies that will qualify him as a full blooded member of the chieftaincy and also graduate him as Chief Pa Kaprie Sawyer that will automatically place him as custodian of the Paramount Chieftaincy society in replacement of his late father, Chief Kaprie Sawyer.
According to family source, it was disclosed to this medium that their beloved son Johnson Amadu Koroma belong to a Paramount chieftaincy ruling house and that he is the only child which their gods have identified to replace his late father Chief Kaprie Sawyer in the chieftaincy thrown.
Madam Isatu Tarawalie, Johnson’s biological Mother recalled that on the 15th May 2021 after spending five days at the hospital, she saw a group of ceremonial chiefs came to the hospital and demanded through the medical doctor in charge to discharge her husband to the secrete shrine as part of the descendent laws with the pretext that he will recover , she burst in to tears and said, “my son Johnson was trying to know why the ceremonial chiefs were demanding to take his late father along” she noted, I explained to him as part of their customs and tradition and also revealed to him how his late grandfather became ill and was taken by the same people only to return with a pronouncement about his untimely death. Few weeks later we saw those ceremonial chiefs emerged in their compound, singing, drumming and dancing their traditional songs of war only to announce that chief Pa Kaprie Sawyer has gone to his ancestors like an hero, they family later burst in to tears after they ceremonial chiefs have departed that their father or brother will never come again neither see his remains for burial.
Mohamed Bangura, Johnson’s friend disclosed to this medium that on the 1st of July 2022 he saw a group of people dressed in their traditional robes surface at Johnson late Father’s supermarket and immediately arrested him to an unknown destination.
He concluded that after several search for Johnson they got information that he was taking to one of the ceremonial bushes at Patebana. On the 10th August 2022, Johnson’s friends took advantage when they ceremonial chiefs have departed for the city and they materialized at Patebana and straightly went to the secrete shrines where they saw him and overpowered the societal guards, during the process the secrete shrine was burnt dawn and they immediately went in to a car and flee for their lives.
In an Exclusive interview with Pastor Michael, he said on the 10th of August 2022, he saw Johnson in a terrible condition and during questioning he explained his ordeal in the hands of ceremonial chiefs and also explained what his friends has done in the society bush, he became shocked and was left with no alternative known the consequences but to escaped with him to another pastor who stayed in Guinea. He noted that Sierra Leone and Guinea share boarders and common traditional values, stating out that both the Pastor and Johnson were staying peacefully when someone from the village saw Johnson in Guinea and came back to the village and explained.
He concluded that Johnson and his Pastor friend were receiving several threat calls that they will be coming forcefully to take him to the village as their custom and tradition demand Johnson and as a result of these persistent threats, Johnson Amadu Koroma went in thin air.
According to Pate-Bana tradition, the runaway fugitive must be a member of the chieftaincy society, as an approach to keep the sacrosanct ceremonies and secrecy of the chieftaincy society and take ownership of his late father Pa Kaprie Sawyer position. Any fugitive who dodges completion of the societal rites have abrogated the law and values governing the society and therefore deem as traitor to be punished by death with body mutilated and sacrificed to the evil spirits for appeasement.
Before going to press, the Koroma family including community members cannot attest the whereabout of their son Johnson Amadu Koroma and all efforts to reach him has proved futile.
