The newly appointed Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Local Government and Community Affairs, Honorable Kemkoh Conteh of Constituency 108, admonished the four zones of the Western Rural District Council; Waterloo, Koya, Mountain and York that he is humbled and grateful to serve in his current capacity. As a former Councilor, Hon. Conteh encouraged them to develop the passion of serving humanity.
On the aspect of revenue generation, the emeritus Councilor turned Honorable, emphasized that Council has a resilient revenue mobilization scheme, which demands commitment, adding that the economic strength of Council is the collection of market dues, licenses and property rate. He encouraged his audience to always utilize public revenue in the interest of the people by providing the needed basic services that would transform the lives of the masses.
The Honorable informed the Committee that among his new assignments are the provision of oversight, examining challenges and getting a consensus to address them. He also maintained that with bipartisan and patriotic dialogue, Council would surmount all administrative issues.
His new terms of reference are, but not limited to, overseeing 16 Districts comprising of 15 District Councils and 7 City Councils across the country.
Honorable Kemkoh Conteh became an active politician in 2007 when he was elected Councilor after his party narrowly took his Parliamentary ticket. He then catapulted to the House of Representatives, when his constituents voted thunderously for him in 2018. His representation is the desire of his people. His service to his country is unparalleled.
