Saudi Arabia Announces New Health Advisory For Travelers

The Saudi Arabian government has announced a new health mandate requiring all travelers from countries at risk of yellow fever transmission, including Sierra Leone, to present a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate upon arrival.

Effective immediately, passengers must receive the yellow fever vaccine and obtain the corresponding vaccination certificate, at least ten days before entering the Kingdom. This precautionary measure aims to prevent the spread of yellow fever and safeguard the health of both residents and visitors.

Yellow fever is a viral disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes, prevalent in parts of Africa and South America. Vaccination is the most effective means of prevention, providing lifelong immunity in most cases.

Travelers from Sierra Leone are advised to arrange their vaccination well in advance of their planned departure to Saudi Arabia. Failure to present a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate upon arrival may result in entry denial or other travel complications.

For more information on vaccination requirements and travel advisories, travelers should consult official sources such as the Saudi Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.
