Why always VP Juldeh Jalloh?

By Thaimu Thullah

Sierra Leone, a small country on the west coast of Africa, has faced its fair share of political turmoil and corruption. And unfortunately, the recent actions of Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh have only added fuel to the already burning fire. It seems that every time we turn on the news or read an article about Sierra Leone, we see the name of Vice President Juldeh Jalloh linked to yet another scandal or controversy. And the latest one involves a stolen diamond and a British citizen. But this is not an isolated incident.

The vice president has also been embroiled in a case that has been in court for almost four years, where he is accused of using his influence to delay justice. These actions have raised serious questions about Vice President Juldeh Jalloh’s character and his ability to lead the nation. A sitting minister in the Bio Government recently exploded on social media expressing anger and frustration against the meddling of the vice president into diamond theft scandal. In a civil and decent country, one would expect him to uphold the law and protect the interests of the people. Instead, he has been accused of trying to suppress justice and manipulate the legal system for his personal gain. The most recent concerning aspect of this situation is the fact that Vice President Juldeh Jalloh is rumored to be eyeing the presidency once President Julius Maada Bio’s term ends. If these allegations are true, what kind of leader will he be for Sierra Leone?

Will he continue to disregard the rule of law and put his own interests above those of the nation? These are important questions that need to be addressed, especially since the nation is still recovering from the devastating effects of the Ebola outbreak and the civil war. Sierra Leone needs a strong and ethical leader who will work towards rebuilding the country and promoting a fair and just society. The fact that Vice President Juldeh Jalloh is seemingly using his position to suppress justice and interfere with the legal system is a clear indication of bad governance. The phrase “orders from above” has become synonymous with his actions, suggesting a lack of accountability and transparency.

As citizens, it is our duty to hold our leaders accountable and demand better from them. We cannot afford to have someone with questionable ethics and integrity at the helm of our nation. Sierra Leone is a nation with immense potential and it deserves a leader who will work towards its progress and development, not someone who will use their position for personal gain. In conclusion, it is time for Sierra Leoneans to question why Vice President Juldeh Jalloh seems to always be involved in controversies and scandals. And more importantly, we must carefully consider the impact of his actions on the future of our nation. Let us use our voices and our votes to demand better leadership and a brighter future for Sierra Leone
