Police Declares Peter Kabba Wanted

Report reaching this medium states that one Peter Kabba, a popular opposition party (APC) youth has been declared wanted by the police on allegation of being one of the organizers of the violent protest that resulted in the deaths of 6 police officers and over 25 civilians on 10th August 2022.

According to Police sources, Peter Kabba has been involved in several protests that have taken place in the country, adding that he has been involved on several occasions in anti-government demonstrations in support of the main opposition party (APC), especially the demonstrations of July 18, 2020 in Makeni and April 30 2020 in Lunsar.

On August 14, 2022, other protesters were arrested and detained at the Makeni Correctional Center for 2 months and 1 week on allegations of incitement and organization of the August 10th violent riots across the country, resulting in destruction of government property and loss of lives, including that of police officers.

However, investigations mounted by this medium revealed that Kabba and others participated in the said protest of August 10, but were merely protesting against the unbearable cost of living in the country, and that those shot dead were innocent civilians who were also protesting about their predicate in the hope that the government will see reason to address the situation. Unfortunately, they were gunned down by a combined force of police and military officers.

It was further disclosed that one unarmed main opposition party activist, commonly called Evangelist Samson, was shot dead by the security forces, apparently running away from them, the day after the said protest of August 10. And on 14th August, the police arrested several runners involving the action, another known activist and strong opposition party loyalist.

Kabba family is said to have been under constant surveillance and harassment from the security forces and ruling party youths. His house was constantly raided by security forces in the company of ruling party youths.

It was also disclosed that several of his colleague activists were illegally detained,  with some suffering serious injuries at the hands of security forces, while others were targeted and killed, all in the name of eliminating opposition to the government. The activities of the security forces was given tacit endorsement when the President declared all protesters as terrorists, that accusing the main opposition party APC of being behind the said riots across the country.

Against this backdrop, many known supporters of the main opposition party went into hiding. In a bid to clamp down on the opposition, security forces embarked on raids in known strongholds of the opposition party (Freetown and the northern town of Makeni).

Raid were mounted after they confirmed he had left the community no where to be found.
The forces stormed the area, Kabba and others are said to have escaped into a nearby bush and have not been seen since then.

Police sources disclosed that Peter Kabba and others have been declared wanted and a nationwide search has been mounted for them. Reports abound about a lot of people being shot dead by security forces in the many raids undertaken, an action described by the main opposition party APC, as a ploy to eliminate their vibrant members in their strongholds.

As we go to press, the whereabouts of Peter Kabba are yet unknown, feared dead.
